Middle School: How I Survived Bullies, Broccoli, And Snake Hill
By: James Patterson And Chris Tebbetts
This story, Middle School: How I Survived Bullies, Broccoli, And Snake Hill, takes place in the summer months at Camp Wannamorra. Camp Wannamorra is a place where kids with bad behaviors go and spend the whole summer there. My gut told me that this story took place in the summer of 2013 because of how the words and the story emmerged together. The story moves along the weeks until Rafe, the main character got expelled.
Rafe is a boy, which seems as though he is around 12 years old, who loves to break rules that seemed unintelligent to him. His mom wanted him to go to Camp Wannamorra for his poor behavior. He spent his summer in the Muskrat Hut along with Norman (Booger Eater), Jake (Dweebs), Cavanaugh (Cav), Jose (Smurf), Noah (Tunz), Justin (Bombardier), Legend, and Doolin, the name-calling bully. Doolin was from the Bobcat Hut who doesn’t get busted after something he did wrong. Rafe would be the one who gets into trouble for what he hasn’t done.
Rafe’s mom encourages him and his sister to participate in Camp Wannamorra. He was lonely at first but he made a group of friends at the Muskrat Hut pretty quickly. Once they walked into the Chow Pit (cafeteria), Doolin and the Bobcats were ambling toward the Chow Pit yelling “DEAD MEAT!” repeatedly because they were name-calling the Muskrats. The Muskrats were trying their best to ignore the Bobcats. During one of the evenings, the Bobcats were making the Muskrat Hut gross and dirty. Once learning at school had commenced from the camp, Rafe came to a class and perceived an exquisite teacher and then he can’t stop thinking about her.
The life lesson in this book is not to be a name-calling bully because you might think it doesn’t hurt anyone because it came out of your mouth, not physically but it actually hurt him or her on the inside.
I think that this is an awesome book to read because it relates to the life lesson we need to learn and some of the pages are hilarious. I definitely think this book, Middle School: How I Survived Bullies, Broccoli, And Snake Hill, belongs to the genre, Humor because I think that this book can cheer anyone up at anytime.
